How to boost your immune system & prevent colds

Hello everyone,

We all know that getting a cold means having to stay in bed until you feel better, yet what if I told you that there are ways to boost your immune system and prevent this cold/flu from getting on to you? Today I'll be talking about several ways you can avoid getting a flu or a cold simply by using some of those natural home remedies.

What are the remedies?

1 - Onions

Place Onions around the house since onions take in the bacteria from the surrounding hence protecting and preventing you from getting sick. You can simply place onions as a designed bouquet anywhere around the house and let them do the job! If flu season is severe, simply slice the onion in half and this way it will have even a greater anti bacterial effect than before.

2 - Honey & Cinnamon

To boost your immune system you can also mix half a teaspoon of cinnamon and 1 tablespoon of honey strengthens the immune system and alleviates flu symptoms.

3 - Ginger

You can intake ginger as tea or as food, in both ways ginger boosts the immune and digestive system and at the very same time.

4 - Garlic

Garlic contains one of the most powerful antibacterial effects on the immune system; so when you feel a cold is coming or flu season is on its way, simply crush some garlic in your food or rub your mouth with garlic since it removes all the bacteria too and hence prevents any germs from entering your body.

5 - Echinacea

This is a very good herb known for its great infection fighting effects. The roots and the leaves of this herb can be used to create a tea. Drink this tea whenever you feel a cold is getting on to you and it will enhance your immune system robustly.

6 - Green & Black Tea

Both green and black tea have a high level of anti oxidants that boost the system properties hence preventing you from getting a flu.

7 - Carrots

Carrots contain carotene which also helps in protecting the immune system, especially enhancing the thymus gland. They also improve and strengthen white blood cell production so eating foods high in carotene help prevent and at the same time fight infection if you already get the cold.

8 - Yogurt

Yogurt strengthens white blood cells and lets the body build and produce anti bodies. Also, studies say that eating at least 6 - 7 ounces (170 grams of yogurt) a day helps prevent hay fever, diarrhoea, flu, and colds. Studies also show that yogurt also can support the fight against cancer!

9 - Lemon and Warm Water

Squeezing a lemon into warm water and drinking it every day in the morning not only helps in removing unwanted fat; but it also detoxifies the liver, boosts energy, and enhances the immune system. It relieves sore throats and helps loosen buildup.

10 - Chicken Soup

Chicken soup is one of the most famous cold-curing recipes. Due to the anti bacterial herbs, carrots, and many other ingredients in the chicken soup, it not only helps cure cold but is also super delicious! Chicken broth also contains nutrients like vitamin B, magnesium, zinc, and calcium which help your immune system in fighting colds and flu.

11 - Almonds

Almonds are high in Vitamin E, and studies say when a body has vitamin E deficiency it is more prone to colds and flu. Therefore eating a handful of almonds a day drastically help in improving the  and strengthening the immune system.

12 - Crab

For all the sea food lovers, crab helps in improving the immune system by killing and fighting bacteria trying to invade your body due to its high amount of zinc. When there's a zinc deficiency the body has a harder time fighting all the bacteria and therefore allows the germs to pass more easily to your system. 3 ounces a day of fresh crab should be enough to fulfil your daily zinc intake.
13 - Green/Red/Yellow Peppers

Peppers have more vitamin C than oranges and lemons, and since vitamin C helps in boosting the immune system, having a regular intake of peppers prevents colds and flu.

14 - Kale

Kale is high in Vitamin A is which is an antioxidant that helps in fighting cancer cells and is vital in forming white blood cells, hence responding well to fighting invaders.

 Other Health tips:

1 - Avoid eating a lot of sugar since sugar weakens the immune system and kills the essential contributors to health and immunity.

2 - Exercise regularly in order to help your body get in shape and balance the body systems which prevent you from getting colds or flu.

3 - Get enough sleep (Refer to my older article about sleep to know how many hours of sleep are required for what ages)

4 - Relax and don't stress yourself since stress could be also a vital cause for having a weak immune system.

5 - Drink plenty of water. Water is essential for every person and therefore enhances the whole body functions and organs.

So, I'm back at the end of my post! I truly hope that this article benefited you, and may all of you remain healthy and fit :)  Also, please comment and rate my article; I'd be very grateful for that!

How to get rid of scars?

Hello everyone,

We all know that most scars are simply not that attractive and you'd like to get rid of them as fast as possible. Therefore before you make a next appointment with the dermatologist, check out those tips I'll be giving you right here on AdviceReflection!

Prevention:

First I'd like to talk about how to prevent scar formation. If you have a wound, make sure it's covered and clean so that it won't get infected - infected wounds leave much bigger scars on the flesh. Also, avoid picking at scabs and avoid disposing your wounds or scars to direct sunlight which would prevent them from healing properly; hence creating a more noticeable scar.

How to get rid of scars:

1 - Using Honey

Honey is known to be a prefect antibiotic and most beauty experts recommend it as a great scar treatment. Take a spoon of honey and massage it on your scar. Then leave it on your skin for about 20 - 30 minutes before removing it. If your scar is large, repeat this every day until you achieve better results.

2 - Lemon Juice

Lemon juice lightens the top layer of your scar cells. Squeeze a lemon and mix it with a little water. Then take a cotton pad and apply it on your scar. You can apply this a few times a day if your skin isn't too sensitive. Lemon juice is very effective for most blemishes, especially red acne scars!

3 - Aloe Vera Gel

Aloe Vera gel is very effective in minimising scars especially when they're still fresh. Simply massage the Aloe Vera gel at least twice a day on your scar to get quicker and better results.

4 - Apple Cider Vinegar

Mix some apply cider vinegar with some water and apply on your skin using a cotton pad at least 15 - 20 minutes before washing it off.

5 - Cocoa Butter

Simply massage the cocoa butter on your scar at least twice a day to help in healing and minimising the scar. (Very effective)

6 - Onion extract

Take an onion and squeeze the juice out of it. Then take a cotton pad and dip it into the juice. Then apply it on your scar for about 10 - 15 minutes a few times a day.

7 - Vitamin E

Get some vitamin E capsules, break them open, and hen rub the Vitamin E on your scars. Vitamin E makes your skin smoother, more moisturised, and straightens out the collagen of your skin which is found in scar tissue.

8 - Contact your dermatologist

If none of the ways above help, it's always best to contact your dermatologist so that you can be prescribed stronger creams for your scars.

Well, I'm back again at the end of my article. I truly hope those techniques will help you in partially getting rid of your scars in order to achieve a better flawless skin you always wished you'd have! Please comment, rate, and vote on my poll on the left. Thank you very much in advance,

How to whiten your teeth using home remedies

Hello everyone,

Do you want to have naturally shiny, white teeth but don't want to spend hundreds of dollars for just a few teeth whitening sessions? Well, here on AdviceReflection I'll be showing you exactly how to get beautiful, white, and shiny teeth in a few minutes using only the stuff you have at home!

What to do:

1 - Use Baking Soda and Hydrogen Peroxide (You can use Salt instead of hydrogen peroxide too)

  1. Take a small bowl and mix 2 teaspoons of baking soda and 2 teaspoons of hydrogen peroxide. Then stir until it's the same consistency of natural toothpaste.
  2. Apply the whitener on your toothbrush and brush your teeth the same way you would when you use toothpaste (Brush your teeth gently).
  3. Keep the whitener on your teeth for maximum 2 - 3 minutes and then rinse your teeth using water or cranberry juice without swallowing. Cranberry juice is antibacterial and at the same time helps you get rid of the taste. If you don't have cranberry juice, simply use water instead.
  4. Your teeth will immediately appear whiter and shinier.
WARNING: Don't use this way if you have cavities or any gum diseases. Also, don't use this whitener more than once a week since it can cause tissue damage if used too often.

2 - Use strawberries

Strawberries contain malic acid which removes discolourations of tooth's top coat, so you can either:
  1. Cut a strawberry in half and rub the inner side of it on your teeth. Then simply rinse your teeth with water.
  2. To make this more effective, mash 1 strawberry with half a teaspoon of baking soda. Mix the mixture and apply it on your teeth, keeping it on for about 5 minutes.
WARNING: Again, use this way only once a while since you don't want your top coat to break down completely! Don't use the 2nd way (The one with baking soda) if you have cavities or any gum diseases either.

3 - Eat crunchy food

Eat foods such as apples, carrots, celery, pears, etc... since they can naturally whiten your teeth due to the acid they contain. The crunchier the food, the higher the ability to clean your teeth and whiten them. Remember that you should eat the fruit/vegetable as a whole fruit for it to give you the white effect.

4 - Drink beverages through a straw

It's best to drink beverages through a straw in order to avoid any major contact with your teeth since most drinks make your teeth yellow and make them appear dirty.

5 - Use Lemon, baking soda and water

  1. Squeeze some lemon juice from a lemon in 1 cup
  2. Add baking soda in another cup
  3. Add a little water to the lemon juice cup
  4. Pour the Lemon juice with water into the baking soda cup
  5. A chemical reaction will happen and it will fuzz
  6. Gurgle the fizz and move it through your mouth for less than a minute
  7. Spit out the rest of the mixture and rinse your mouth with normal water or cranberry juice
WARNING: Don't use this more than once in 2 weeks since the acidity may again break down the tooth enamel if used too often. Don't use this way if you have cavities or any gum diseases.

6 - Don't drink drinks that make your teeth yellow and don't smoke

Avoid smoking and drinking coffee, alcohol, tea, soda, or red wine.

7 - Brush your teeth daily

Make sure you brush your teeth every day when you wake up and before you go to bed with a teeth whitening toothpaste. DO NOT brush your teeth IMMEDIATELY after you eat because this way you are removing the enzymes in your mouth which actually help your teeth. Instead, brushing your teeth about 10-15 minutes after eating will be better and more convenient.

So, I'm back at the end of my post. Please comment and rate my article and please vote on my poll, I'd be very grateful for everything! :)
